On October 23, 2015, iC consulenten within UNIDO project organized the round table discussion “Introduction of the Energy Management systems in Ukraine: procedure for companies’ selection, financial mechanism and experience of local industries”. It was the second event in frames of GEF/UNIDO Technical Assistance Facility UKR IEE “Implementation of standards of Energy Management systems in Ukrainian industry”, financed by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF).
The developed transparent screening procedure and Project’s financial mechanism were presented to the invitees during the event. Both were developed by iC consulenten. Since the 1st Round-table in September, the Consultant also performed companies’ screening in accordance with the approved procedure resulting in the list of 30 qualified and interested companies out of more than 600. The effective consultation with stakeholders regarding the screening procedure and financial mechanism was important part at this stage in UNIDO project.
Among the participants of the round table, representatives of state authorities, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Minregion, etc., took active part in discussions and showed the intention to support the final selection of 6 companies and further project implementation process.
Another valuable input during the event came from PJSC “Energomashspetsstal” – the largest Ukrainian manufacturer of special cast and forged products for metallurgy, shipbuilding, power industry (wind-, steam-, hydro-, nuclear energy) and general machinery. The Energy Manager of the company shared with participants his experience of implementing Energy Management, told about lessons learned, methods for motivating employees to generate energy saving, presented implemented measures in their production facilities and significant achievements of cost and energy savings, resulting in millions UAH and kWh.
The first cycle of company selection is almost completed and finalist for the implementation of the energy management systems are being evaluated by the Selection Committee.
