Round-table “Investment attractiveness of RE balancing in Ukraine”

NGOs are still one of the drivers for establishment of the Ukrainian energy. European-Ukrainian Energy Agency initiated talk about RE balancing. Thus, 23 July 2019 the first public discussion was held of this topic at the round-table “Investment attractiveness of RE balancing in Ukraine” organized by EUEA, supported by Indian Solar, Guris and Wärtsilä with participation of experts and representatives of SAEE, Ministry of Energy, Ukrenergo and the European Commission.

Elena Rybak. Deputy Head of EUEA, Managing Director of iC consulenten Ukraine said in her opening remarks:

“For a decade the EUEA Association promoted RE and EE sectors development under the moto “Advocating, Engaging and Reforming”. We shall continue our further work on uniting and engaging of all market players – business, government and regional institutions, NGO and media, of course, are to be involved in search of a consensus for the complicated issues. This event is one more opportunity to raise questions and a try to find solution for important issues of the market players and especially EUEA members.

Today we have to achieve three main goals:

1. Identify scenarios of development for energy sector in Ukraine.
2. Identify priorities among possible further steps towards electric energy market related to further increase of RE share with simultaneous implementation of measures on improvement of flexibility of energy system.
3. To receive proposals for energy storage market establishment and development of respective technologies as well as their use in energy system of Ukraine.

The results of the round table discussions will become a basis of EUEA initiatives within coming  months to support the transfer to the new energy market”.
