The first projects to reconstruct housing for internally displaced people are starting to be implemented in Ukraine. This is the right time to start implementing the best international standards in design and construction. We have already started doing this in the IDP housing project launched by the European Union and NEFCO in cooperation with five Ukrainian cities – we are designing the premises with gender factors in mind. This will make it possible for all residents – men, women, and children – to live in a truly comfortable environment.
We held a series of presentations and discussed possible options with the city teams, including unimpeded access to the first floor and all rooms in the building, play areas in the attics, an increased number of showers and toilets for women, and many more details. We are starting to implement our plans and create better housing for Ukrainians.
