iC experts Iryna Sukhodub and Mykyta Tymoshenko conducted the first workshop in frames of project implementation on development of technical recommendations for Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (NZEB). Such buildings are characterized by a high level of energy efficiency and Energy demand for such buildings is being mostly met by renewable energy sources (RES).
NZEB is one of the first steps in implementation of the EU Energy Performance of Building Directive. Each EU country establishes its technical requirements to such buildings. Now this process has begun in Ukraine.
The project (study) targets new buildings and is financed by the Finland Ukraine Trust Fund, which is governed by NEFCO and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland.
VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is the main Consultant.
The representatives of the Reform Support Team (RST) at the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, developers and project companies implementing projects with a high level of energy efficiency, representatives of relevant public associations took part in the workshop. Separately, municipalities, interested in improvement of energy efficiency in public and residential buildings, were also involved in the discussion and those, who unfortunately, have suffered significantly from Russian aggression.
The experts together with the professional audience discussed the selection of typical projects for residential and public buildings which will be used for energy modeling in the development of technical recommendations for the NZEB. They also discussed typical practices in the construction of residential and public buildings in Ukraine and the use of RES in the construction of such facilities.
Several more workshops are planned as part of the project. They will be dedicated to the technical solutions for buildings envelopes and engineering systems of residential and public buildings for inclusion in energy modeling, technical and economic calculations.
