Elena Rybak moderated panel discussion on how cities attract investments at the International Mayors Summit 2021

4 October 2021

The panel discussion “Which cities are more likely to attract investments? Dialogue with experts” on the International Mayors Summit moderated by Elena Rybak united the experienced experts from Horizon Capital, the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, EBA, NEFCO and the National Investment Council.

The result was clear that to successfully bring the investments into the municipalities it is important to remember:
  • That cities have to create positive reputation by communicating other success stories of investors already operating in the city
  • Mayors have to lead, implement projects in a transparent way and communicate benefits to the citizens
  • Right people are key to any success
  • Every failure on the local level is a failure of the country, because it is not just a city that loses a disappointed investor, the chances are high that it is the country who lost that investor.
