Project description

NEFCO’s Facility for Energy Saving Credits is a loan programme under the Nordic Environment Development Fund, which is intended to offer small scale financing primarily for energy saving measures in municipally owned buildings such as schools, day care centres, hospitals and sports facilities. The Facility for Energy Saving Credits provides loans to Ukrainian municipalities or municipal companies. The city of Kaniv initiated the project “Improvement of energy efficiency of budgetary institutions in the city of Kaniv”

Project data

The project was focused on implementing energy efficiency measures in the school # 6 and kindergarten #6. Upon implementation of the energy saving measures the buildings can save 832 MWh/a of heat energy, and 7,7 MWh/a of electrical energy. The comfort level for the buildings increased and positively impacts over 1,500 children and staff members

Project specifics

Energy efficiency measures included:

• Insulation of walls and roofs;
• Insulation of socles;
• Replacement of doors and windows;
• Installation of individual heating substations;
• Installation of lightning protection systems;
• Modernization of lighting systems;
• Modernization of ventilation systems;
• Perimeter pavement repair;
• Installation of water drainage systems;
• Replacement of asbestos roof covering
