James Mathews about a well-known construction project – bridge in Zaporizhzhia.

James leads iC supervision team working on the construction of Zaporizhzhia bridge. He spoke not only about the international supervision experience, but also compared it with Ukrainian practices. There are difficulties, but there are also advantages. Generally, James is very optimistic about the bridge commissioning within announced two-year period, since all the parties of the process are working hard.

• Modern trends: asphalt processing and reuse in roads repair works is one of the current requirements for sustainable development and lately often and a condition for contractors internationally. This will also be more and more applied in Ukraine.
• Bridge operation and maintenance depends on effective traffic control. Experience of the European countries confirms this.
• The future belongs to “smart” highways: they will promote reduction of traffic jams, flow speed regulation, reduction of CO₂ emissions, and what is more important – increase of people safety.
