Project objectives

The main objective of the project was to contribute to the compliance of the wastewater disposal and treatment facilities in the Vsetín region with the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive 91/271/EEC and the achievement of the ecological sustainability of the natural water systems in the Becva valleys as required under the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC.

Project description

The aim of the project was to reduce the environmental impact to the River Becva Basin and to influence the quality of life of 105,000 inhabitants in the municipalities along the lower sections of the Becva and Morava Rivers accordingly.

Project data

The assignment included the supervision of three works contracts. Project scope: 138 km of sewerage construction/reconstruction, 8 wastewater treatment plants (two newly constructed, six rehalbilitated) of 106,983 person equivalent, construction of retention tanks with a capacity of up to 3,500 m³. Total investment: EUR 28,000,000.

Project specifics

The Becva Basin, as far up as the confluence of the Rožnovská Becva and Vsetínská Becva rivers below the town of Valašské Mezirící, is a Protected Area of Natural Water Accumulation (PANWA – Czech Abbr. CHOPAV).
